No worries about the actual geography; you can choose if you want to be in Asia or in Europe.......I guess it's OK with Kazakhstan since the country is part in Europe and part in Asia (like Turkey or Russia) (that is from what we were learning in school geography), but it is more strange with onther countries like Israel and Cyprus (they belong to Asia but play in European competitions) or Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan (the same situation) |

With Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan there is a historical reason - they have been part of the former Soviet Union which also played in Europe. With Israel the reason is political: because of the Arab-Israeli conflict, Israel simply cannot play in Asia. |

Date: 02-05-2002, 16:26 | My home-country team Dinamo Tbilisi ( Georgia) has won Cup Winner's Cup in 1981. It would be very unfair to "relegate" in Asia. Morover largest part of Georgian area IS in Europe. |
