Money talks

As money talks louder than ever, I am interested to know how much each team gets for each point in the CL and UEFA-cup and how much they get for reaching the different stages. Does anyone know?

I don't know exactly how much each side receives for every win and every point, but last season, of the competition's total revenue of one billion Swiss francs, UEFA handed back SF703m to the participating clubs.

Even champion clubs who did not qualify for the first group stage received SF150,000 each, and those teams knocked out in the first and second qualifying rounds received SF80,000. Teams who then went out of the UEFA Cup in the first two rounds received SF80,000 for each round.

Those clubs in the latter stages fared even better.

Last season's Champions League winners, Bayern Munich, received a total of SF71m from UEFA, including a SF10m payment as winners and SF39m from the German TV pool.

Bayern benefited from the early elimination of the other German clubs, receiving a bigger share of the German TV pool.

If I can find any information on amounts per point, I'll let you know.

there was a post on this a while back that listed all the money earned for the 1999-2000 CL.

You are right about the TV contract generating alot of the money.. one additional reasons that good clubs likey kiev struggle to compete with well promoted clubs like arsenal.

In any case, european clubs in major leagues can expect >10mil pound windfall from reaching the 1st group stage. I say this because, when clubs qualify for the CL... articles often say... club x opens the door for a 10mil pound jackpot... etc.

Another reason for having a superleague. With 30 or so major teams.. revenue could be distributed more equally.
