| The fight for the important 6th place in the countryranking (nr 2 in CL or Qualification CL and nr 3 Qualification CL or Uefacup)will be exciting this spring. Greece, Holland, Turkey, Portugal "are nominated" but who will be the nr 6? What dou you think?
6 Greece 6.500 6.200 5.416 6.750 9.000 33.866 2/4 7 Holland 6.833 4.833 6.250 6.083 6.666 30.665 3/6 8 Turkey 4.400 3.200 7.750 7.750 4.875 27.975 1/4 9 Russia 9.875 7.000 4.250 3.833 2.333 27.291 0/6 10 Portugal 3.416 3.500 5.833 6.125 8.375 27.249 2/4 |

| It is definitely Greece. Even if Holland win all their matches, they won't have enough points to overtake Greece. |

| The problem is that Greece has to wait until the 2003-2004 season to have 3 teams in the Champiopn's League. In the 2002-2003 season they will still have 2 and my team, Panathinaikos FC, is currently 4th in the table. I hope they will be in the top 2 by the end of the season!! They always do quite well in the Champion's League!! Or maybe they will win the Champion's League and qualify as holders..... Hhhhmmm maybe not.... |

| I think this topic should be renamed : Turkey vs. Portugal for the 8th place (2CL participants + 4UC participants ). Issues like Greece 6th and Netherlans 7th are untouchable, I think even Ahmet will agree with me that's for Tukey it's impossible to change something over there. But again place number 8 is a place to reach.
Actually I want to propose the new topic like : DOES MORE TEAMS MEAN BETTER!. From one point of view it gives chance to first third of division to play in Europe On the other side - it's bad for coefficients and little bit disappointing for supporters.
Does somebody has more opinion on this? |

| I agree! From what I remember and from also checking the archive, places 7 to 12 have been swaping in the last years between teams like Russia, Turkey, Greece, Portugal, Czech Republic. And now with Holland going down to 7th place (and also 5th-place France not doing well), I think that in the next years the swaping in places 5-12 will continue. I agree that some of these countries do not have 6 good teams to compete in the UEFA cups. 2 of them get eliminated from the preliminary rounds and then the remaining ones have to carry the high 'division' coefficient. So less points for that country. I think for Greece 4 teams in the UEFA cups is the best, but I am curious to see what will happen when we get 3 Champion's League places and 3 UEFA cup ones... We'll see in 2 years... |

| No doubt.everybody agrees. countries 6th until 10th should have 5 teams ( 2CL + 3 UC ).
No country, not even Holland is worthy to have 3 teams in champions league ( maybe 1 team in 3 years go to second round ). 6 teams is too many and 4 is too little, so 5 teams is the perfect balance, why does uefa dont change that ???????? |

| Vakho, I certainly agree. Galatasaray needs to get 11 points over PSV and Feyenoord for 7th place. Simply not realistic. For 8th place Portugal has a higher chance since they continue with 2 teams.
I personally favour 9th place for Turkey. 4 teams are better than 6. There is only Galatasaray accumulating points for Turkey. Next year there will be six of them and god knows what will happen.
An intresting statistics: Galatasaray 17.250 9 other teams 10.725 Total for Turkey 27.975
If galatasaray collected points at the same rate as others. Turkey would be #26 with 13.917 points.
I agree 6 teams are too many. A 5 team layer is definately required. |

| I think I've already mentioned my feelings on this matter before but I shall repeatthem anyway. Because of the gap between the top 5 and the other countries I feel that the big 5 should 'battle' it out for the top 3 spots. Then countires 4-8 should have 6 teams (3 in ChLg and 3 in UC). Counries 9-15 should have 5 teams (2 in ChLg and 3 in UC). This makes healthy competition between countries of similar standards. It will also give exposure to high quality football for teams from countries 6-8. This will help reduce the gap in quality between the big 5 and the rest. One thing that I feel few people will disagree on is that some countries should have 5 teams. You cannot suddenly jump from 4 teams to 6 teams, it is illogical and creates inconsistency. How can it be justified that one year a team is worthy of entering 4 teams and the next year it is worthy of entering 6 teams? That must be some sudden improvement in the standard of football! |
